If you have, or can find a Lenco, Garrard or Thorens (& etc.) are not a DIYer and cannot afford the larger/more complete updated work/rebuilds, I am willing to take on special more budget-oriented projects to reduce costs, and will consult with you on where your money is better spent, which means recommendations on tonearms, cartridges, and so on. Of course, certain parts, finishes, and overall size will have to be sacrificed, but I will bring my understanding, years of experience, certain mods like the TJN Mod which is mandatory to the project, and obsession regardless to the project, and make for you as beautiful – and completely silent and reliable – an end product as is possible; I’ve taken on such projects before for those who want the magic of an idler-wheel but can’t reach it.
Classic Garrard & Reference Garrard
What works for the goose, works for the gander. The Garrards can be rebuilt to either Classic or Reference levels. Many of the techniques and materials are similar, but not all, since these are different machines each with their own sonic flavours, each with a different set of problems and solutions. I have rebuilt several of both, always to the extreme satisfaction of the customers, thanks to the same old obsessive rebuilds, absolutely dead quiet. I have my own techniques and new parts for each, which makes my own work with these far different from what is available on the market, based as always on actual results and preservation of the original “magic” (i.e. PRaT, SLAM, coherence, dynamics), not marketing glitz and unneeded work. Since my work with these is not yet well-known, then prices are, for now, introductory, lower than equivalent work with the Lencos. This is also due to the act that the Lencos require more specially-made parts and more work.
Classic Thorens TD-124 & Reference Thorens TD-124
What works for the goose, works for the gander. The Thorens TD-124 can be rebuilt to either Classic or Reference levels. PRaT, SLAM, coherence, dynamics, and in this case flow with much more precision), not marketing glitz and unneeded work. Since my work with these is not yet well-known, then prices are, for now, introductory, lower than equivalent work with the Lencos. This is also due to the act that the Lencos require more specially-made parts and more work.
